INDUSTRIES · LOGISTICS & SUPPLY CHAIN
AI agents for logistics that work the exceptions: late shipments, missing documents, ETA drift, freight invoice disputes and claims. The agent finds the problem overnight and hands it to a coordinator explained. Nothing is committed to a customer without a person.
What’s slow in logistics
The systems already know something is wrong. The problem is that knowing is spread across a carrier portal, an email thread and a TMS field nobody reads until a customer calls. Coordinators spend their day assembling a picture that already exists.
Exceptions are discovered by the customer
The delay is visible in tracking hours before anyone in operations acts on it.
Status chasing is the job
Carriers, forwarders and warehouses each answer in their own format, on their own schedule, by email.
Freight invoices do not match
Accessorials, fuel and rerates create small differences at high volume. Most go unchallenged because checking costs more than the gap.
Claims and documents expire quietly
Proof of delivery, packing lists and customs paperwork have deadlines. Missing one is a write-off nobody notices until the audit.
Where AI agents for logistics pay off first
Exception detection and triage
Every shipment is checked against its plan. Deviations are ranked by customer impact and presented with the cause and the options, not just the alert.
ETA maintenance
Carrier events, dwell times and prior lane behavior are reconciled into a current ETA, with the change explained. Customer-facing updates go out only on your rules.
Status chasing
The agent asks carriers and sites for the missing update on your cadence, files the reply against the shipment, and escalates silence rather than absorbing it.
Freight invoice audit
Invoices are matched to the rate agreement and the accessorials actually performed. Differences are assembled into a dispute packet with the evidence attached.
Claims and document packs
Proof of delivery, photos, weights and paperwork are gathered before the deadline, and the gaps are named while there is still time to fill them.
These agents run against categories of system you already have: TMS and WMS, carrier and forwarder APIs, EDI and document exchange, customs and trade compliance tools, ERP, and data warehouses. Vendor names appear on this site only as illustrative examples of a category, never as a claim that we have delivered that integration. If it has an API, an agent can use it. If it does not, we will build the bridge.
Compliance and risk, stated plainly
Screening stays a controlled decision
Export control and sanctions rules require counterparties to be screened, and a hit to be resolved by someone accountable. An agent can gather and present the evidence. It never clears a hit.
Classification is prepared, not decided
Customs classification and duty treatment carry legal consequence for the declarant. Agents propose with the source rule quoted. A licensed broker or your trade team decides.
Customer commitments need a person
Any message that changes a promised date, accepts a claim or concedes liability sits behind an approval gate. Agents draft it and hold it.
Evidence
Input, retrieved context, tool call, output, model version and cost are recorded for every action, which is also what makes a disputed invoice or a claim defensible six months later.
What we do not claim
URU Forge holds no trade compliance, SOC 2 or security certification. Our agents do not make your operation compliant. They work inside the controls you already have and log what they did.
Four agents that fit a logistics operation
Order & Logistics Agent
Watches every shipment against its plan and raises the exception with its cause already attached.
Invoice Matching Agent
Audits freight invoices against the rate agreement and assembles the dispute packet for anything outside tolerance.
Compliance Watch Agent
Tracks the regulatory and carrier-rule sources you follow, and maps each change to the process it affects.
Analytics Digest Agent
Turns lane, dwell and on-time numbers into a short written read, with the movement explained.
Where a logistics engagement usually starts
AI business process automation
The operational build: exception handling, chasing and claims, with approval gates written into the path.
AI integration and implementation services
Usually the gating work here. Carrier feeds, EDI and a TMS that predates the API era are the real project.
Typical shape from our engagement model, not a quote: a 3-10 day audit, then 2-4 weeks to a first agent watching a live lane under supervision. Integration effort dominates the timeline in this sector more than any other, and the audit says which feeds are usable before anyone commits to a date.

Frequently asked questions
Our carriers send email and PDFs, not API responses. Does this still work?
Yes, and that is the normal starting position. Agents read structured feeds where they exist and parse documents and mailboxes where they do not, filing what they extract against the shipment. The honest trade-off is confidence: a parsed PDF gets a lower confidence score than an API event, and low-confidence extractions go to a person rather than into the ETA.
Will an agent tell our customer their shipment is late?
Only if you build it that way, and most operations choose not to at first. The default is that the agent prepares the update, attaches the cause and the revised plan, and a coordinator sends it. Once the escalation rate is stable and you can see what the agent gets right, some customers move routine status messages to auto-send and keep anything involving a commitment behind approval.
What does an agent do with an exception it cannot explain?
It escalates immediately rather than choosing the most likely story. Unexplained deviations are the ones that matter, so the design treats a confident wrong answer as the worse outcome. The escalation carries everything gathered so far, which means the coordinator starts from a compiled picture rather than an empty tracking page.
Can this handle customs and trade compliance?
It can prepare that work and it must not decide it. Classification, duty treatment and sanctions screening carry legal consequence for the declarant, so agents gather documents, quote the applicable rule and flag discrepancies for your broker or trade team. Any workflow where an agent would clear a screening hit is one we will decline to build.
How long until something is live?
Typically 3-10 days for the readiness audit and 2-4 weeks to a first supervised agent, with integration access setting the pace. Where carrier data arrives only by email or EDI, expect the longer end. We would rather name that in the audit than meet it after a start date has been promised.
